Regional Sustainable Development Framework
The West Midlands Regional Sustainable Development Framework was first published in January 2005. The Assembly commissioned Sustainability West Midlands to review the Framework in the light of the UK Sustainable Development Strategy "Securing the Future", published in March 2005, and to incorporate lessons learnt from the way the Framework has been used in practice since its publication. A new version of the Framework was launched at the Assembly's Annual General Meeting in July 2006.
The Framework sets out sustainable development objectives for the region and a process for incorporating these objectives into policies, strategies and plans in the West Midlands. The Framework is intended to assist in ensuring all policies, strategies and plans play their part in contributing to a sustainable future for the region, and that different policy areas are developed in a way that is complementary and mutually supportive.
The Framework has been produced both as a printed document and in a more interactive format within the Sustainability West Midlands website.
Visit the RSDF web pages, or download the printed document.
A range of organisations has contributed to the development and review of the Framework, and a consultation period took place earlier this year.A summary of consultation responses and details of how these have been incorporated is availableon request.
