The Strategic Approach to Sustainable Development in the Region

The aim of this review, completed in 2004, was to recommend a process that would ensure that sustainable development becomes a key regional driver.

The Panel found that regional partners were generally committed to the principles of sustainable development and welcomed the progress already made in developing understanding of how these impact on policy development. The Panel examined 6 themes - understanding, regional commitment, integration, regional structures, strategies, and policies and the future.

The final report makes 6 recommendations for the Assembly - all of which have been formally accepted by the Assembly, 3 for Sustainability West Midlands and 5 for wider Concordat partners.
