Following the merger of the Regional Housing Boards (RHBs) with the Regional Planning Bodies (RPBs) in 2006, the West Midlands Regional Housing Executive (RHE) is now tasked with developing the next Regional Housing Allocations Strategy for the 2008 - 2011 period. The new Allocations Strategy follows the policy direction set out in the Regional Housing Strategy 2005 and the current Regional Housing Allocations Strategy (RAS) 2006-2008. Consideration has been given to those important issues which have arisen since the RAS 2006-2008 was formulated during early 2005. Any resulting needs for investment have also been identified within the new Strategy.
WMRA has worked closely with the Housing Corporation and GOWM in the drafting of the new Regional Housing Allocations Strategy. The consultation process commenced on 15 January 2007, when a regional consultation event for officers and 'Other Stakeholders' was held to assist in the initial shaping of the Strategy. Questions and Issues Paper (15.01.07).
Further advice has been provided via the Sub Regional Housing Investment Strategies, which were developed by each of the Housing Market Area Partnerships. These will available for viewing here shortly - North, South, West and Central (in three parts: C1 Birmingham, Solihull, Lichfield and Tamworth, C2 Coventry, Rugby, North Warwickshire DC and Nuneaton and Bedworth, C3 Black Country LAs, South Staffordshire DC and Cannock Chase DC).
The deadline for responses on the Draft Regional Housing Allocations Strategy has now passed
