Research Programme 2008-2010
In 2006, the Regional Housing Board agreed in principle to progress a programme of research based on the areas identified in Chapter 10 of the 2005 Regional Housing Strategy. Furthermore, in preparation for an update of the Regional Housing Strategy and for the development of SIRS, there was a need to refresh the shared evidence base with RSS.
Sufficient budget has been secured to fund the research programme. The RHE has sought approval for a budget of £400k from the Regional Housing Pot for research for 2008-11, and these funds have been approved.
In the period leading to March 2010 there is a need to refresh the Regional Housing strategy in terms of key evidence about housing markets, particularly given changes in housing markets and the wider economy, and the need to identify trend data.
At the same time, work strands are already in place in partnership between the Assembly and Advantage West Midlands to begin the process of developing SIRS, and there is a need to ensure this work is informed by up-to-date and reliable housing data.
