WEST MIDLANDS FAITHS FORUM (WMFF)

Following a period of research and development led by Regional Action West Midlands (RAWM), the West Midlands Faiths Forum was launched in June 2003. This is an independent body aiming to provide a meeting place for the voices of the diversity of faith groups that will provide a medium whereby views can be heard and gathered in a structured manner by regional bodies, including the Regional Assembly.

The West Midlands Faiths Forum (WMFF) has initially received funding through the Regional Strategic Engagement Fund, resourced by Advantage West Midlands and the West Midlands Regional Assembly. From April 2006 the Forum has received financial support, including Communities & Local Government (CLG), GOWM, Capacity Builders and Charitable Trusts.

WMFF Vision:
A West Midlands region where there is mutual respect and understanding between faiths, where faiths work collaboratively to influence and shape community life for the benefit of all.

WMFF Mission:
To act as a hub for faiths in the region, promoting positive inter faith dialogue and influencing policies and strategies.

WMFF Aims
- To interface with regional agencies delivering government policies in the WM and advise them on the impact of such agendas on faith communities
- To facilitate discussion between and research among faith communities on matters of social and religious concern
- To help build the capacity of faith communities to engage with policy-makers and service providers at local, sub-regional and regional levels and to act as their advocate
- To encourage community engagement and cohesion through both inter faith dialogue and discussion with the wider public

The West Midlands Faiths Forum has an Executive Committee reflecting the major faiths within the region and a series of sub groups. The accountable body to the West Midlands Faiths Forum is provided by Birmingham Community Foundation.
