Delegates gathered at the Council House in Birmingham for the annual conference of the Regional Assembly's European Strategy Board, chaired by Cllr Sir Albert Bore. The conference was based around the West Midlands's economic prospects and the opportunities for working with and learning from other EU regions. Issues outlined and discussed included the work taking place to produce a new regional strategy, how other EU regions approach the development and delivery of regional strategies, and how key regional priorities such as the car industry, research, innovation, climate change and the jobs market can receive crucial support from EU funds.
