Culture

Partners commit to working towards ensuring more cultural opportunities in all parts of the region; in particular by enhancing access to cultural and sporting activities for young people, opening up cultural institutions to the wider community to promote lifelong learning and social cohesion and by maximising the contribution that tourism, creative and leisure industries can make to the West Midlands economy.

Culture West Midlands

Culture West Midlands acts as an independent advisor to the West Midlands Regional Assembly on cultural matters.

It is one of eight Regional Cultural Consortiums established by the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS), with Non Departmental Public Body status. Culture West Midlands aims to be the collective voice for the West Midlands cultural sector, to highlight the contribution of culture and leisure to other areas of regional policy - social, economic and environmental and to promote collaborative working in order to enhance the region's cultural offer and its contribution to quality of life. Culture West Midlands also has responsibility for producing the Regional Cultural Strategy and has launched 'Valuing People and Places' a document updating the future actions and priorities for the cultural sector.
